10 New Places You Have To Eat At Before 2017 Ends

Without much further adieu, there’s your Culinary Bucket List For 2017…

Started by the folks behind Cafe Thulp, this one is our current favourite from this year’s lineup. It’s essential all-meat and some seafood menu {with a few vegetarian sides and mains}, so vegetarians, maybe skip this one. The menu isn’t too vast, but it’s all things cured and smoked, and divine. Try the meat platter for a sample of their food. We found our favourite food of 2017 on it — the Smoked Bone Marrow {pork} with sea salt and olive oil. Yum!

This new pizzeria does flambe pizzas, so naturally we think you should go here to try it out. How can you say no to rum drizzled cheesy goodness? Mmmm. They have two ovens to whip up crisp base pizzas, and what is also very striking is that they offer plenty of cheese toppings — from bocconcini and mozzarella to burrata and parmesan. Plus, chorizo to make it a perfect pizza!

Quirky, swish and a fine place to work, drink and then party, Sly Granny has become quite the hotspot. By day it’s a chic place to load up on dishes like Croque Monseiur, Udon noodles with prawns, quinoa salad and a dreamy walnut tart. Drinks are great too, and we suggest their cocktails rather than straight up spirits. Don’t forget to get photos in front of the uber entertaining wallpaper — Arnold Schwarzenegger with pineapples. Yup, Granny be cray cray!

Bringing some Asian sass to the jaded Cunningham-Queens Road area, this massive art deco restaurant is perfectly divided into bar, coffee shop and restaurant. With an extensive coffee menu to keep you company during work meetings, sushi, sashimi and outstanding Nikkei cusine for when you want to fine dine and Oriental Bellinis, Cherry Mojitos and Smoked New York Sours on weekends, what’s not to love about 1Q1? That’s a rhetoric. Make sure you go!

A funky tribute to The Beatles, this one wins for food and ambience. Sure it’s a trek to JP Nagar, but when you have the rich Rogan Gosht, Stir Fried Pork Noodles and a solid stack of BBQ Ribs, you’ll be thanking us. Know someone at IIM, Bangalore? Make sure they check this place out too; it’s right across their campus gates.

We’ll leave you with one sentence for this one: 32 kinds of French Fries. Need we say more? OK, we can’t leave it at that! We heart this place. From Cheesy Fries, Blonde ones, Nemo Fries and even a butter chicken one, you’ve got to try this place out for novelty, and sheer choice.

Finally, there is a cafe in the CBD area that isn’t filled with teeny-boppers picking between Frappuccinos and Mochaccinos! This one means business in the form of quinoa burgers, roast chicken, and milkshakes to die for. All you hipsters must try the avocado and chocolate shake, and if you don’t care about calories, the Birthday Shake with sprinkles to boot must be had. With a winning view of the CBD skyline on one side, and the pretty Ulsoor lake on the other, Cafe Felix is an all-round winner, we think.

With a very Hakkasan {the London one, of course} feel to its chic and stylish decor, Misu on St Marks road has won us over with the familiar flavours in a fancy set up. Rounding up much-loved dishes from Asia, head here for Nasi Goreng, Krapow chicken, dim sum, sushi, Massaman curry, and even a mean Khao Suey. Also try their ice cream sandwich and their newly launched Matcha Green Tea Garden Dessert.

They have colour-changing cocktails to start with! So you must have the Hattori Hanzo {such a winning name!}. What is fantastic about this restaurant, tucked away in Phoenix Marketcity, is that their menu goes beyond the usual suspects. We’re talking thick fluffy okonomiyaki, laksa style lotus stems, Dan Dan Mian noodle bowls and some authentic Singaporean Hainanese Chicken Rice.

The cutest cafe we’ve found in Koramangala, Enerjuvate brings the same cosy vibes from its Jayanagar branch. Except the decor at this new place is dreamy with mason jar light fixtures, locally made furniture and adorable photo frames. They have lovely fresh juices on offer, but it’s the homemade kombucha we’re after, and they come in flavours like apple-cinnamon, pineapple-mint and hibiscus. Food includes pizzas, pasta and even some healthy ragi Pad Thai. We also found our new favourite baked potato wedges {and sweet potato ones too} here.
