Bantwal: In a serial accident, a speeding lorry rammed a KSRTC bus, Bolero jeep, and an Innova car, as the driver lost control. The incident occurred at Kudrebettu near Kalladka on the National Highway (NH) 75 on March 1.
The Innova tumbled 15 feet off the road and pinned down under the lorry. Miraculously, the occupants of the car escaped with only minor injuries.
The occupants in the Innova were travelling from Panemangaluru, to attend a wedding. The asphalt laden tipper, which was moving towards Mangaluru, first hit the KSRTC bus going to Puttur. Then hit the Bolero jeep and collided with the Innova. The impact was such that the car was stuck under the lorry and dragged down the embankment. The car was ferrying 8 people from Panemangaluru.
All passengers of the Innova, including two women and two children, escaped with minor injuries. Two passengers on the KSRTC bus also sustained minor injuries. The police informed that the injured had been admitted to a private hospital at Thumbe with the help of locals.
Sanawulla, who was travelling the Innova said,”Everything happened very quickly. We could see the speeding tipper hit the bus and the Bolero. The lorry hit us before our driver could take any action. We were saved even though we were crushed under the lorry, due to mercy of the Almighty… The locals helped to save us.”
The Innova is completely wrecked, while the bus, Bolero and the lorry also suffered some damages.
According to sources, the lorry belongs to Raj Kamal Construction. The driver of the lorry ran away from the accident spot, the police said.
Bantwal Police visited the accident spot and are carrying out investigation. A complaint is registers at Melkar Traffic Police Sattion.
The national highway was blocked for sometime due to the accident. However, traffic police arrived in time and eased the traffic.
